The best moments of Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2021

Every year, the couture collections of the great European fashion houses provide us with artisanal confections that raise the aesthetic bar of your everyday clothes to something truly transcendent. This season is no exception, although perhaps the exalted collections of the first fashion houses inhabit a new space in our minds – in the most difficult times, they have given us the gift of visual escape; a chance to lose ourselves for a moment in a fashion fantasy, when a lot of our real lives have been focused on sweatpants in recent months.

The week kicked off with a bang with Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli, showcasing a collection of surreal infused clothing woven with golden threads, echoing visuals from early 20th century art movements. Then, at Christian Dior, the golden age continued, but with a different historical reference: this time it was the zodiac and the tarot, woven into exquisite tapestries and brocades, taking us into a vision of medieval romance. Another strong point: Chanel. The house presented a bright and energetic collection of roses and flowers, imbued with a sense of freedom and rebirth; assuring us that after a harsh winter, spring will return.

Here, some of the best looks from the Spring Summer 2021 Haute Couture collections.
