Designer Miss Sohee creates decadent demi-couture fashion


London-based fashion designer Sohee Park defines her women’s clothing brand Miss Sohee as “demi-couture”. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2020, his collection of graduates made the cover of LOVE magazine – and Park has since launched a successful fashion brand amid the pandemic, while reinventing tailoring for a new generation.

Sohee Park graduated from the same CSM class as emerging designers Harris Reed and Yasmina Atta. Her graduating collection “The Girl In Full Bloom” included voluminous demi-couture dresses with glamorous’ 60s and gold Hollywood references. The first star to adopt Park’s designs was Miley Cyrus for a performance on The Graham Norton Show in October 2020. But Miss Sohee really took off in 2021 after being worn by Ariana Grande, Naomi campbell on the cover of The cup, Lisa by BLACKPINK and Anitta at the VMA MTV 2021.

Park’s designs draw on a rich tapestry of inspiration, from the beaded outfits of the 1920s to the opulence of the Golden Age, to the sexy and glamorous moments of the 1960s, combined with an aesthetic of flora and fauna in jewel tones. . Miss Sohee’s second collection for Fall / Winter 2021, “Haenyeo”, is inspired by Park’s memories of spending her childhood by the sea. “Haenyeo” is a Korean word which also means “woman of the sea. “, and according to Park,” are old scuba divers who collect seashells on Jeju Island in South Korea. They have been my muses for this collection. Their lifestyles, harmony with the ocean, and the maternity really touched me by creating this collection. “
